How to Make a Ginny Lemon Martini: Step-by-Step Instructions

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest Netflix shows, chances are you’ve stumbled upon Drag Race UK. And if you haven’t already binged the entire series, it’s time to ‘sashay away’ and check it out after trying this cocktail. Our team has been inspired by Ginny Lemon’s iconic presence both on and off the TV screen, and we’ve concocted a cocktail in their honour!

Ginny Lemon has captured hearts on Drag Race UK with their unique style, infectious humour, and love for all things bright and yellow. So, how do we capture these iconic traits in a cocktail? We’ve crafted two different versions of our lemon-inspired martini, and it’s up to you to judge which one reigns supreme!

Our first Ginny Lemon Martini is simple, sweet, and easy to replicate with basic ingredients like flavouring syrups, household items, and of course, gin (if gin isn’t already a staple in your household!). The second version incorporates some of our gastronomy technology, including the Pro Whip + N2O Cream Chargers and Pro Whip Master Dispenser.

Ginny Lemon Iconic Martini

Ingredients (per drink)

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker (or something you can use to mix your cocktail, shaken not stirred!
  • Martini Glass

Instructions

  1. Add your ice to your cocktail mixer to cool down the shaker before use – do the same to your martini glass or better yet keep it in the freezer whilst you prepare your cocktail.
  2. Add your caster sugar to your gin to sweeten the sharpness of the gin.
  3. Combine both of your syrups into a cocktail mixer before adding the dry gin of your choice and shake well for 30 seconds to let the liquids emulsify together
  4. For a little ‘extra’ step, coat the rim of your martini glass with a light dusting of caster sugar!
  5. Pour your mixed cocktail into your ice cold martini glass and enjoy watching Season 2 of Drag Race UK whilst drinking a Ginny Lemon!

Ginny Lemon ‘Crown Worthy’ Martini

Ingredients (per drink)

  • 25ml MONIN Orange Triple Sec Flavouring Syrup
  • 75ml Dry Gin
  • 1 tsp of Caster Sugar
  • Lemon Twist for garnish
  • Cut up lemon pieces (the more you use, the stronger the taste will be – use to preference)
  • Ice

Equipment

Instructions:

  1. Follow the first step of the iconic martini recipe above and include chilling your whipping dispenser also for optimum results.
  2. Using your Pro Whip dispenser, fill the chamber with bruised lemon pieces and your dry gin – if you like your martinis on the sweeter side, add a teaspoon of caster sugar and stir. Screw on the head of your dispenser tightly until you feel a point of resistance.
  3. Grab your Pro Whip + Cream Charger and slot it into the charger holder with the point of the charger facing towards the dispenser head and screw on to the head of the dispenser in a quick ‘accelerator’ action until you hear this hiss of the gas releasing. If you are using a dispenser above the size of 500ml, 2-3 cartridges may be required to fully pressurise the chamber for infusion. Leave charged whilst you prep the remainder of the cocktail to intensify the infusion – the longer you leave the cocktail pressurised in the dispenser the richer the taste!
  4. Prepare your martini glass with the sugar around the rim and lemon twist garnish at the ready.
  5. Take an extra glass and hold it at the gas escape valve (where the decorator flute is attached) and use the glass to cover it. Whilst holding the dispenser upright, slowly release the gas by holding down the dispenser trigger. For infusions using Nitrous Oxide, you do not need to hold your dispenser upside down as this is for yielding foams only and doing this for infusions will result in a loss of liquid! Once you have fully dispersed the gas from the chamber, unscrew the dispenser head and pour the liquid through the sieve (to catch all of the lemon!) and into the cocktail shaker.
  6. Taste test your gin and if the infusion is not strong enough for your palette, repeat the process again from Step 2 for double infusion and an intense flavour.
  7. Next grab your Monin Triple Sec Syrup and combine this with your lemon infused gin before shaking thoroughly in the cocktail shaker for 30 seconds. PRO TIP: you can also combine the syrup in your Pro Whip dispenser alongside the gin infusion and this will slightly change the texture of the liquid and sharpen the flavour notes.
  8. Finally, pour your Crown Worthy Ginny Lemon Martini into your cold martini glass and take your sassy yet satisfying cocktail for a dance around your kitchen!

If you like the bright Ginny Lemon yellow colour for your cocktail, add a splash of our MONIN Lemon Syrup to the drink to finish it off!
