Dark chocolate contains all of the same components as its sweeter alternative, milk chocolate, but without the milk!

The original dark chocolate was consumed as a drink in Central and South America, almost 4000 years ago. Its popularity spread in the following centuries until eventually, the solid form of chocolate began to be mass-produced around the world. Although not as popular as milk chocolate, Dark Chocolate has been touted as a healthier option and has since began to make a comeback in the confectionary world!

Monin has taken the sophisticated, bitter notes of dark chocolate at its best and produced Monin Dark Chocolate Syrup, a simple way to add delicious dark chocolate to hot and cold drinks, desserts, or anything you want!

Recipe idea: Dark Chocolate Banana Split

You will need:

One ripe banana

One tub of vanilla ice cream

Monin Dark Chocolate Sauce
Mini Marshmallows
Whipped cream dispenser

Whipped cream charger

100ml whipping cream

How to make:

  1. Peel the banana, then slice down the middle using a knife.

  2. Place the banana halves in a dish, spaced apart.

  3. Scoop out some ice cream, and place the scoops in between the banana halves.

  4. Now, you need to make the whipped cream. Open up the whipped cream dispenser, and pour the whipping cream inside. Screw on the dispenser head tightly.

  5. Next, place the whipped cream charger inside a charger holder, and screw it onto the dispenser head until you hear a hissing sound. Shake the dispenser for a few seconds to produce a light fluffy whipped cream.

  6. Turn the whipped cream dispenser upside down and squirt a generous dollop of cream over the ice cream scoops.

  7. To add the finishing touches, sprinkle the mini marshmallows over the banana split, and drizzle Monin Dark Chocolate Syrup over the mixture. Serve and enjoy!
